NWMO and NUMO concluded the cooperation agreement

On June 22, 2017, NWMO (The Nuclear Waste Management Organization) and NUMO concluded the cooperation agreement.

This agreement aims for the wide range of cooperation in the field of radioactive waste management, on the basis of mutual benefit, equality and reciprocity.

NWMO is responsible for final disposal of used nuclear fuel as high-level radioactive waste (HLW) in Canada. They are carrying out the phased site selection process, focusing on communication with local communities. We believe that the agreement will contribute to the progress of geological disposal programs in both countries, through information exchange, exchange of specialists and other forms of cooperation.
