On the morning of November 12, 2015, Mr. Pierre-Marie Abadie, CEO of ANDRA*, visited NUMO prior to the open symposium on geological disposal held by NUMO at Tamachi, Tokyo.

The symposium in the afternoon began with Mr. Abadie’s keynote speech entitled “French experience of siting Cigéo, geological disposal facility project for high-level radioactive waste management.” He explained the historical perspective, the present work and the future direction of the Cigéo project.

The presentation was followed by the dialogue with Ms. Yuko Sakita, a journalist and Mr. Shunsuke Kondo, President of NUMO. The discussion focused on practical measures to build trust in the community.
