Opinion Exchange Meetings on the Nationwide Map of Scientific Features for Geological Disposal in 2017

In response to the publication of the Nationwide Map of Scientific Features for Geological Disposal by the government in July 2017, NUMO held a series of opinion exchange meetings across Japan to raise awareness and enhance understanding among the public about the geological disposal project. At the meeting, NUMO and METI explained the overview of geological disposal, the map and communication activities hereafter. In the following small group discussion, participants exchanged opinions with NUMO staff including technical experts.

Kanto - Tokyo, Tochigi, Gunma, Saitama, Kanagawa and Yamanashi
Chubu - Shizuoka, Aichi, Mie and Nagano
Kinki - Wakayama, Osaka, Nara and Hyogo
Chugoku - Okayama, Hiroshima and Yamaguchi
Kyushu - Fukuoka, Kumamoto, Saga, Nagasaki, Oita, Kagoshima and Miyazaki (28 prefectures)
Total participants: 1,611 people
